Worcestershire man with MND does not support a change in the law.

John King is ready to die and has opted to have his treatment withdrawn

Ludlow and Tenbury Wells Advertiser has published a report today on local man, John King, who suffers from Motor Neurone Disease and has decided to discontinue treatment for his disease.

You can read the full report here, in which John explains that he opposes a change in the law on assisted suicide because he worries about the effect on vulnerable people.

In a letter recently sent by specialists in end-of life care to MPs they explained that there is a right to die under our existing law; that, if we choose to discontinue life-prolonging treatment, our doctors have a duty of care to support our dying with analgesia and other symptom relief; and that is isn’t, as some suggest, a bipolar choice between suffering and swallowing legal drugs.
