House of Commons debate on the Liverpool Care Pathway: Westminster Hall.

In the wake of sensationalist headlines and multiple allegations, Glyn Davies MP tables a debate on the topical Liverpool Care Pathway.

On 8 January 2013 Glyn Davies MP (Conservative Montgomeryshire) raised, in a parliamentary debate in Westminster Hall, the subject of the Liverpool Care Pathway (LCP), which provides guidance to doctors and other health care professionals caring for patients considered to be in the final hours or days of life but which has been criticised by some as accelerating death.  Mr Davies said that in raising this controversial subject he hoped to promote “calm reflection on this most sensitive of issues without encouraging the spread of alarm and despondency among those entering care which can result from sensationalist allegations”.  Here we provide the Hansard record of the debate.
