Deaths from PAS in Washington State 2015.

Another Sharp Rise in deaths from legalised physician-assisted suicide.

Washington State, which legalised physician-assisted suicide for terminally-ill people in 2008, has published its annual report on deaths from this source in 2015.  This reveals that the number of persons to whom lethal drugs were dispensed rose by 21 per cent and that the number of deaths from ingestion of such drugs rose by 32 per cent.  The rise in the prescribing rate represents a sharp upturn after two years of fairly level numbers and the sharp increase in deaths from ingestion of lethal drugs mirrors the experience of neighbouring Oregon.  The report may be read here.
