Deaths from euthanasia in The Netherlands in 2013.

he official report for 2013 shows a further substantial increase in numbers

The official report of the Dutch Regional Euthanasia Review Committees shows a 15 per cent increase in physician-administered euthanasia or physician-assisted suicide in The Netherlands between 2012 and 2013.  The 2013 figure is more than two and half times the number recorded in 2002, the first year following legalisation, and is the equivalent, on a population basis, of some 16,500 such deaths in England in Wales if we were to have a similar law here.  The figure for Great Britain (ie including Scotland) would be 18,000 and for the UK as a whole 18,500.  Within these overall figures there were sharp rises in the number of cases involving people with mental illness and dementia.
