Report of the select committee on Lord Joffe’s 2004 “Assisted Dying for the Terminally Ill” Bill.

Lord Joffe’s 2004 “Assisted Dying for the Terminally Ill” bill was referred for examination to a select committee of the House of Lords under the chairmanship of former Lord Chancellor Lord Mackay of Clashfern.  The committee took evidence over six months from more than 140 expert witnesses in the UK, the US State of Oregon, The Netherlands and Switzerland.  Its report, published in April 2005, ran to three volumes.  It was debated by the House of Lords on 10 October 2005.  Here we publish the Hansard record of the debate on the report.
