The Royal College of General Practitioners (RCGP) has announced the results of its consultation with its members on whether the College should maintain its position of opposition to legalisation of assisted suicide or change to a stance of neutrality or support. 77 per cent of more that 1,700 individual respondents expressed the view that College should maintain its position of opposition. The same view was expressed by 20 of 28 RCGP bodies which took part in the consultation. In the light of these responses the RCGP Council resolved to maintain the College's existing position.
