Oregon’s Death with Dignity Act (DWDA), enacted in 1997, allows doctors to supply lethal drugs to terminally ill and mentally capable patients who request them for purposes of suicide. The Oregon Public Health Division is required by the DWDA to collect information on the operation of the Act and to issue annual reports. The report on Calendar Year 1998, the first year following the Act's entry into force, may be accessed here.
