New Zealand Medical Association reports on assisted suicide and euthanasia

'Doctors should remain cautious about any change in the law'

View publication PDF

The New Zealand Medical Association (NZMA) has today published a report on the implications for doctors and medical care of any change in the law in that country to legalise assisted suicide or administered euthanasia.  It concludes that "doctors should remain cautious about any change in the law that would interfere with principles that have guided medicine and general healthcare to good effect for most people throughout the centuries" and that "the WMA's [World Medical Association's] clear opposition is sound and worthy of support".  The report may be read in full here.
